"Wild red-plum fruit. Lovely fruit - lustrous, shapely, concentrated and sensuous. The oak is pronounced, but the rich fruit flares through it. Leafy untertow leading into a dramatic but controlled finish." / Tamlyn Currin @ Jancis Robinson / 17.5 points
Wine: Their singe vineyard Achkarrer Schlossberg is an ideal terrain for Pinot Noir. The volcanic soil of this site delivers the minerality that is needed to develop the fruity, intense and complex bouquet.
Tasting notes: Voluminous bouquet with marvelous richness of fruit and hints of ripe berry-compote, preserved cherries, red apples, ripe red plums, savory vanilla and cloves. The fine character with pleasant warmth is already noticeable in the nose and continues on the palate. Impressive approach on the palate with an immense fruit body, yet finally knit and with a very silky texture. Impressive length, perfectly integrated acidity and imposing presence on the palate.
Food recommendation: A perfect partner with sophisticated meat dishes, especially when herbs or roast aromas play a major role. Equally good with game and various types of savory cheese.
