Bassermann-Jordan N/V Riesling Sekt Brut

Bassermann-Jordan N/V Riesling Sekt Brut

Regular price £25.70

"Precious little German sekt males it to our shores, and this is one worth drinking all through a meal, perhaps with roast gammon. Notes of lime blossom and sweet lime with background hints of curry leaf and rye. Frothy and gentle - soft, but still refreshing, with plenty of undemanding pleasure."

"Subtle but enticing notes of dried lemon rind and the merest touch of yeast play on the nose. The palate adds rounded and ripe notes of yellow pear and an edge of quince while that note of dried lemon rind makes the mouth water. This speaks of the ripeness of the 2018 vintage and delivers a fruity and balanced Sekt that is just about still in the brut range. This will shine with any savoury dishes that feature fruity elements like dried apricots, peach or riper citrus."

The sparkling wine was made from Riesling grapes from the 2018 harvest. The vines are grown in red sandstone weathered soils that are rich in sand and clay. Reflective of its terroir, the wine is characteristically fruity and elegant.

After harvest, the grapes were gently pressed for many hours. The must was fermented in stainless steel tanks. The bottling took place in May the following year. After approximately 12 months of traditional bottle fermentation and maturation, the "Riesling Sekt Brut" still presents itself with a slightly yeasty bouquet. Beautiful fruit aromas give the wine its pleasant character.

A harmonious sparking Riesling, it is elegant and delicately fruity. Ideal for a reception or as an appetiser, this sparkling wine has ripe, fine Riesling fruit flavours with nuances of peach.
