The vineyard is located on the middle of upper slopes of a hillside in an area which extends in a south-easterly direction, embracing the historical part of Westhofen. A chain of hills to the west and north of the location protects the vineyards from cold winds. Due to the gradient and exposition of the land, the vineyards enjoy optimum exposure to the sun. The vineyard is classified as VDP Grosse Lage.
The heart of the Kirchspeil terrain is a composition of marlaceous clay, a large proportion of limestone skeletal remains and a small proportion of weathered chalky clay soils. Limestone is the predominant component of the sub-soil.
This is traditional wooden casks fermented and matured wine originates from more than 50-year-old vines. A complex mineral structure and an aromatic spectrum ranging from peaches to citrus fruits, apricots and mellow flint, typically associated with the Kirchspiel.
