Schloss Reinhartshausen 2015 Assmannshäuser Höllenberg Spätburgunder Grand Cru dry red wine

Schloss Reinhartshausen 2015 Assmannshäuser Höllenberg Spätburgunder Grand Cru dry

Regular price £77.90

"Check that alcohol! But it's balanced and the wine doesn't feel too hot. Very, very oak spicy. Coffee-toffee, coconut and cherry tobacco. Tastes of a lot of oak extraction, losing the fruit. Quite some power in those tannins." / Tamlyn Currin @ Jancis Robinson / 16 points

Origin determines: "The more site-specific the origin of a wine, the higher its quality.
...has for centuries been the guiding principle for Schloss Reinhartshausen. So they begin where many others have already stops. It is as simple as it sounds, but not less labour intensive. Their vineyards are maintained and self-managed with a great deal of lifeblood, expertise and,not least, plenty of work carries out of hand. Healthy, ripe grapes create the best wine, which is the best ambassador of its origin. After careful, selected hand picking and gentle pressing, the quality from the vineyard is preserved and developed further in the cellar. "The very best quality through controlled idleness."

In Assmannshäusen the vineyard sites Höllenberg and Hinterkirch are approx. 0.3 ha in size. The new wines from Assmannshäusen complement the red wine portfolio at the top very perfectly.

The site Höllenberg is the fillet of red wine cultivation in Rheingau and with its high slate portion is known as one of Germany's best red wine vineyard. Optimal for Spätburgunder is the soil accumulation at this steep slope viniculture, producing full-bodied wines rich in bouquet and of international top class.

In multiple small grades this Spätburgunder opens up its bouquet of blackcurrent, balckberry and a delightful spiciness. On the palate lots of extract with even lavender aromas, paired with tannins and a fine mineral structure. A grand wine with great potential, newly presenting itself with each glass poured.
