"They've been making wine since 2015 from this vineyard. 40-year-old vines, mix of clones, and they're working pretty much organically with no herbicides or fertilisers. Meike Näkel does cold maceration and the fermentation starts spontaneously. 18 months in barrique, 60% new.
Really spicy nose with a hint of cedar, and then utterly gorgeous on the palate. A kaleidoscope; transparent, jewelled, glowing like a stained-glass window in the evening sunlight. It feels like a fine glass bauble in the mouth. Cranberry and pomegranate with cinnamon and pepper, baharat spice. Fine-boned tannins. Complex yet it moves with lightness and grace. All in harmony. Long."
