Göttelmann’s Dautenpflänzer Riesling Dry white wine was praised by critics at the Harper’s Wine Stars competition. This Riesling won three awards;

  • ‘Star Value’ - Germany’s highest scoring wine with regard to taste.
  • ‘Star of Nahe’ - the highest scoring wine of the Nahe region.
  • ‘Five Stars’ - the highest rating for being an outstanding wine, that comes highly recommended.

The judge’s comments were;
“This wine represents excellent value for money, showing depth of age and length that can go on for ages. The wine is serious and complex, but has a hint of sweetness. We all agreed that this wine had great depth.”

This dry Riesling shows a solid aroma of peach and apricot, with a long lasting finish. With a little imagination you can even taste the Hunsrück oak of the barrels the wine was matured in.

The grapes that produced this Riesling were grown on the famous ‘Dautenpflänzer’ site in Münster-Sarmsheim. Dautenpflänzer is a south-facing, steep vineyard with gravelly red quartz slate soil.

The vines are more than 35 years old, and their yield is around 45 hl/ha. The ripened grapes were harvested during the last week of October. The wine was fermented with indigenous yeast in stainless steel vats and then matured in big wooden casks made of nearby Hunsrück oak.
