The vineyard
was founded in 1935 by Joachim Heger's grandfather Dr. Max
Heger whose previous profession was that of a country doctor
but his for wine resulted in purchasing some of the best slopes
in the Kaiserstuhl area; Places like Ihringer Winklerberg
and Achkarrer Schlossburg where the climate is almost Mediterranean.
As the slopes are steeply terraced, the use of machiery is
almost impossible hence a lot of the work has to be done by
hand. 95% of the wines are fully fermented which results in
clear elegant wines with structure, longevity and complexity. |
